This is "Ronnie". He is 10 years old. Ronnie is afraid to tell anyone about his abuse because the abuser is his father. He believes the abuse is his fault because he doesn't get good grades in school and that makes his father angry. His father never told Ronnie that his dad used to hit him too.

Ronnie vows do to better in hopes the abuse will stop. He lies to his teacher about the apparent bruises in fear more abuse will come.  The teacher did not want to report the abuse because she was friends with the dad. So, she did not. The abuse became so excessive that Ronnie had to wear a bandage to cover his wounds.
