The violin in this painting represents "play-someone-like-a violin".  The sound of this violin can be controlled or manipulated as it is played, as so with playing on the emotions.  

The blue flower symbolizes the affection she desires, but fear and insecurities have held her captive in a symphony of her own emotions.  The dark lines represent the different detours she took that have led to nowhere.  The butterfly symbolizes new beginnings, life, hope, and transformation that she could have if...she chooses to.
